Im thinking about using poker tracking software to get an edge but is it the right thing to do. How many people are using this software? I think it would help my results but it it cheating. Need some advice.

Poker tracking software is not a bad thing to use. With there being so many people playing poker, and so many games running each day, its hard to keep track of every player you have played against.
Many professionals use tracking software when playing online because it can compute even more than they can when playing in a live game. This software lets to keep track of players betting patterns, win patterns and much much more. All of the tools offered in trackign software are skills that the pros use everyday when playing in live games. And yes, they do use software when playing on the web.
I have been a prop player/professional player for years and have used tracking software for a long time as well. It also helped improve my live game by getting me to observe all the right things at the table.

You’ve answered your own question. "Is using poker-tracking software moral?" and "it is cheating". No it’s not moral. I love to play games and there’s one thing I’ve discovered in the 30+ years that I’ve played…taking short cuts really just robs you in the end. You have less fun and there’s less of a sense of accomplishment. You can tell yourself that you won 85% of your games but in the back of your mind, you’ll know that you didn’t win because you’re good at the game but instead because you used a ‘crutch’.
POKER is all about the uncertainty of the fall of cards. A person who starts off with pocket aces may not eventually win, the evolutionary aspect of poker leads to this innate nature in man to know the cards of the opponents and also to know what cards are likely to fall next. Because, the fall of cards or the hand held by the opponents might give u the certainty of winning or losing and deciding early could be very profitable. If u have a winning hand u could bet more and take more or if a losing hand avoid losing chips.
The software that tracks the cards equips u with a foreknowledge, which is IMMORAL, as the opponent is not aware of what u are up to. Secondly, it gives u an unfair advantage in a game, which taken in the right spirit is UNETHICAL. Thirdly, it could be a question of MONEY, therefore it would be a FRAUD too.
Any software that tracks POKER cards are IMMORAL, UNETHICAL and a FRAUD.
Depends on exactly what the software does – if it merely helps you track your own personal stats, I see nothing whatsoever wrong with it since it’s more of a bankroll management tool than anything else.
If it keeps tabs on your opponent’s past history, that’s more of a gray area, depending on the degree of detail – if it’s information that anyone could reasonably be expected to remember on their own, then it’s merely a convenience and should be fine. Detailing history of past performance to the nth degree and computing the percentage chance of what they might do in a given situation is a whole different matter.
Anything that somehow grants you information about opponent’s hole cards or the deck that is not normally available (including mucked cards) is not in any way gray – that’s cheating pure and simple.
As long as such software is not giving you an unfair advantage over the other players, you can use it because there are certain software that tracks your data and ensures fair play. Also if playing with unfair advantage, your interest in the game would decrease and you won’t enjoy the game even if you are winning.
